Official Road Safety Education Program (RSEP)


Start the official Road Safety Education Program (RSEP/RESP) recognized by the SAAQ—required in Québec for first-time Class 5 drivers and for holders of foreign licences not accepted by the SAAQ. The program combines 24 hours of theory and 15 in-car sessions delivered across 4 structured phases to build safe, confident driving skills.
Who it’s for?
- New drivers 16+ who have never held a licence elsewhere and did not pass the SAAQ theory test before January 17, 2010

How we deliver it?
- Theory every Sunday, 9:00–11:00 — attend online (virtual) or in-class

The Four Phases (RSEP)
Phase -1
Learner’s Permit Prerequisite
Minimum duration: Few days
- Phase 1 includes 5 theory modules, each lasting 2 hours, for a total of 10 hours.
Module 5 includes a review + theory test
Certificate of Phase-1 completion issued upon attending Modules 1–4 and passing Module 5 test (required to obtain a learner’s licence)
Phase -3
Semi-Guided Driving
Minimum duration: 56 days
- 6 hours of theory (Modules 8–10) on Speed, Sharing the Road, Alcohol & Drugs
- 6 in-car sessions (5–10)
- 2 formative evaluations in-car: sessions 5 and 10 to assess progress and target improvements
Phase -2
Guided Driving
Minimum duration: 28 days
Phase 2 includes 2 theory modules, each lasting 2 hours, for a total of 4 hours
4 in-car sessions (1–4) focused on basic vehicle control
Students may begin accompanied driving; we recommend your first two in-car sessions start at the school for safer onboarding
Phase -4
Semi-Guided to Independent Driving
Minimum duration: 56 days
- 4 hours of theory (Modules 11–12) on Fatigue & Distractions and Eco-Driving
- 5 in-car sessions (11–15)
- Session 15 is the final on-road evaluation to confirm readiness for the SAAQ road test
How the Classes Work?
Theory (Classroom Modules)
Each module runs ~2 hours and typically includes:
- Phase 1-4 offered in hybrid model
1–2 active learning activities tied to program skills
Structured road-safety content on the module topic
Briefing at start, break mid-way, and closing recap
Practical (In-Car Sessions)
- 1:1 on road practical with out instrutor for 1 hours each.
- Every drive includes a pre-briefing (goals & route), coached driving, and a debrief (progress & next steps)

Car Rental for Road Test

Need a car for your SAAQ road test? We facilitate the booking for you through our trusted partner car-rental companies that operate directly at SAAQ exam centres. We secure discounted, pre-negotiated rates, handle the coordination, and issue a payment receipt—so on test day you simply meet the partner at your exam centre and show the receipt.
