Conditions for obtaining a Class 1 licence (heavy truck):
- Hold a Class 5 licence (passenger vehicle) for at least 36 months.
- Have no more than 3 demerit points entered on your driving record.
- Have not had your licence suspended or revoked for 2 years.
- Provide a medical report (SAAQ Form M-28).
- Pass SAAQ vision test.
- Pass SAAQ knowledge test (general and air brakes).
- Pass the SAAQ road test (circle check and on-road).
Conditions for obtaining a Class 3 licence (straight-body truck)
- Hold a Class 5 licence for at least 24 mois.
- Pass the SAAQ vision test.
- Have no more than 3 demerit points entered on your driving record.
- Have not had your licence suspended or revoked for 2 years.
- Provide a medical report (SAAQ Form M-28).
- Pass the SAAQ knowledge test (general and air brakes).
- Pass the SAAQ road test (circle check and on-road).

- Highway Safety Code.

- Inspection of compressed air braking system.

- Quebec road signs and signals.
- Preparation for SAAQ knowledge test (SAAQ fees excluded).
Practical training:
- Circle check.
- Coupling and uncoupling a trailer .
- Double clutch.
- Use of compressed air braking system.
- Precision backing.
- Gradual gear shifting.
- Energy saving.
- Driving in the city, in the country and on highway..
- Preparation for SAAQ road test .
